RE/SONO
The four saxophonists of RE/SONO are sound seekers, as the search for sound is so central to their preoccupations. Sound that resonates, sound that reasons, sound that re-sounds, sound that rings again. Since 2016, Romain Chaumont, Yanir Ritter, Olivier Duverger-Houpert and Alexandre Galvane have been exploring the saxophone quartet repertoire and transcriptions together, with a focus on sound as their identity. RE/SONO's eclectic programmes weave a tale of dialogue between eras and aesthetics. The musicians' undeniable complicity and the energy and delicacy they bring to their performances make each concert a moment of warm sharing and intense discovery.
RE/SONO won prizes at the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition (Verona, 2017) and the Illzach International Chamber Music Competition (2016). The quartet performs regularly and gives masterclasses, in Strasbourg (2017 to present), at the Rencontres du Saxophone du Conservatoire de Cholet (2024), at the Musiques Éclatées festival (Strasbourg, 2018 and 2019), the Emilia-Romagna Chamber Music Festival (Italy, 2018), the XVIIIth World Saxophone Congress (Zagreb, Croatia, 2018), the Musée d'art moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg (2019) and the Ars Mondo festival of the Opéra national du Rhin (Strasbourg, 2019). It is the winner of the Musiques Éclatées grant (October 2018).
They regularly give premieres by various composers (Matías Couriel, Mathias Berthod, Sérgio Nuñez Meneses, Emma O'Halloran, Gonzalo Bustos, etc.)
In 2023, RE/SONO premieres Chorea Lasciva, a concerto for saxophone quartet commissioned from Jordan Gudefin, with the Orchestre d'Harmonie des Jeunes de Strasbourg.
