Karam Al Zouhir and Olivier Duverger are two musicians from different musical worlds. Karam was born in contact with oriental and classical music. Since completing his studies, he has been experimenting with rock and jazz. Olivier, for his part, comes from contemporary and classical music, and is developing his work around artistic transversality. They meet on the common ground of improvisation to establish a sharing between their languages.

How can two musical cultures enter into dialogue? Between breath and bow? Between popular and improvised music? Between frenetic experimentation and sobriety?

 

Olivier and Karam propose a poem without words, through paradoxical sonorities, sometimes at the limits of the audible, sometimes lyrical, sometimes raw, sometimes minimal. Their aim is to create music that improvises, repeats, contradicts and renews itself, exploring popular melody to its limits, its breaking point. Melody is reborn under a new energy, its simplicity stretched to the extreme, its complexity densified, its beauty playing with us, hiding but gradually revealing itself.
